Oxfordfirst - Undergraduate Studies
A large number of students from across the world come to the UK for undergraduate studies, aiming for the award of BA or BSc. In many countries these courses last four years but, unless there is a sandwich element (one year in industry), UK degrees normally last three years. Typically UK degrees are m ore specialised than those in many countries which follow a more flexible, wider curriculum. Many UK degrees lead to qualificiations in the professions.
If you hold a Diploma then it is sometimes possible to enter a UK degree programme with advanced standing (entry with credit) so shortening the course. More details can be found here.

Application Procedure
There is a centralised application procedure for entry to UK universities call UCAS.
The normal entry qualification for entry to a UK degree course is three A levels. For international students you also need to satisfy the English language requirement which is normally IELTS 6 (TOEFL 550) but which for some subjects is higher.
Details of the method and the normal time to apply for an undergraduate course is given on the UCAS website - see links page for details.
Foundation Route
Many international students hold qualifications that show that they are not quite ready to enter a UK university. This can be due to the lack of A levels (High School Diplomas are not normally accepted as equivalent) and/ or English language skills which do not meet the entry requirements, typically IELTS 6, or equvalent.
To bridge the gap, both academic and English language, you could consider taking a foundation course; details can be found here.
