Oxfordfirst - Learning English
This page recognises that in terms of learning English different types of student have varied needs and requirements. For example, there are those:
- whose first language is not English and who are planning to come to the UK to study and wish to polish up their language skills before their course,
- students who need to satisfy the English language requirements of a university by obtaining a specified grade in the IELTS examination,
- students who want to come to UK for a few weeks’ language experience in a language school,
- students who are looking for intensive language tuition on a one-to-one basis that maybe associated with a homestay - check here,
- wishing to improve their use of English in their professional life - this area is normally referred to as Business English - check here
For each of the above categories there are specialised courses. I cannot give specific guidance or recommendation here as peoples’ needs and interests are so different so please write to me telling me what you are hoping to achieve and, at no cost or obligation to you, I will write back with advice and suggestions.
